Conflict represents the presence of diverse viewpoints and is a normal part of life. Yet conflict can be a big energy leak that prevents teams and organizations from realizing their goals. How do you create an environment where struggle with conflict and reconciliation can spark creativity, nourish growth, jump-start productivity, and strengthen relationships? If you are looking for strategies for both preventing and reducing the health and productivity costs of unresolved conflict, this workshop is for you.
During this four-part highly experiential online workshop, “Cross Cultural Conflict Resolution”, you will learn a simple and highly effective method for working with people in conflict situations who wish to resolve their problem. The workshop focuses on the readiness of the facilitator to work with situations of conflict, providing skills and frameworks for conflict resolution in groups based on universal cross-cultural practices for conflict resolution.
This workshop will interest anyone who wants to take steps to resolve conflicts to benefit people, productivity and the bottom line: leaders, managers, consultants, or members of any group or community. Workshops draw participants from all sectors – from corporate to health care and non-profit to education and the arts – and this mix adds to the richness of your learning experience.
Today, all organizations and the people within them are experiencing more rapid change than ever before. Hand in hand with change comes the certainty of conflict. Conflict can be source of creativity and innovation when individuals and groups embrace diverse viewpoints and can reconcile differences. However, unresolved conflict diverts individual and organizational energy away from constructive and productive work, which ultimately negatively impacts service and the bottom line. People engaged in conflict are usually fixed in one perspective. They rarely ask each other genuine questions. They may lose contact with their whole selves. Individual responses may make it difficult for them to participate fully and effectively in efforts to resolve the conflict, resulting in the need for third party intervention. This workshop provides simple and practical tools and strategies to prevent and facilitate conflict resolution.
You will leave the workshop equipped with practical and holistic process and frameworks that will enable you to:
Identify leadership practices that build trust, community and collaboration that prevent conflict from becoming unhealthy;
Make genuine contact with your understanding of conflict and conflict resolution;
Determine if conflict resolution is appropriate or if other means need to be employed;
Prepare yourself to successfully facilitate conflict resolution;
Work with individuals to prepare them for conflict resolution;
Apply practices for conflict resolution with individuals and groups
Our teaching model is rooted in experience. The facilitation process for the workshop is Whole Person Process Facilitation, which pays attention to the multidimensional human being including learning styles, different intelligences and levels of consciousness. This facilitation methodology creates conditions that maximize the learning of individual participants and also creates the opportunity for the emergence of collective learning.
The methodology incorporates individual reflection, paired and to large group plenary work. The process invites participants to make genuine contact with themselves, one other, the collective and the community – building relationships and new ways of working together during the workshop. This allows participants to mentor each other as they apply the learning.
The workshop includes a workbook to support ongoing learning. Audio and video CDs are available for purchase as an additional learning tool. All participants have access to support and mentorship following the training through the international network of Genuine Contact™ professionals. For more information go to www.genuinecontact.net.
We will use Microsoft Live Meeting as the online workshop platform with a teleconference line for the audio. You will need to download the free Microsoft Live Meeting client. There are also free tutorials to familiarize yourself with the program. Sign in information will be provided at the time of registration and there will be an opportunity to do a technical check in prior to the workshop.
